An easier way to avoid this problem uses Skitch as a translation tool. It doesn't delete the "temp" images it creates; you can have a look at them if you like or delete them fecompressor.

The bad news is that there's nothing you CAN do to fix the problem. Sorry this didn't help.

There is no immediate patch to read documents that show this problem, because this isn't fixed in any Quicktime version or patch that I know of, to date.
